Justification<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

The main issue<\/strong> faced by La 72 is the violation of the human rights of people on the move, refugees, and human rights defenders in the communities of Tenosique (Tabasco, Mexico)<\/em><\/strong>. The defense of the human rights of people on the move, as well as those who defend them, is considered a sector that is largely neglected in public policies across Latin America.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Some of the causes that worsen this problem are:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

  1. The tightening of migration policies.<\/li>\n
  2. Violence and insecurity in the region have exceeded the operational capacity at the municipal level.<\/li>\n
  3. The invisibilization of the problem and the lack of political will among state and municipal authorities.<\/li>\n
  4. The lack of guarantees from authorities allowing human rights defenders to carry out their work safely.<\/li>\n
  5. Another identifiable cause is the rejection of the migrant population by the local community. High levels of xenophobia are present in Tenosique.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
