According to the Women’s Information and Development Center (CIDEM), between March 2013 and October 2015, 270 feminicides were reported in Bolivia, of which only 24 had a conviction, while the rest are still in the investigation phase. The departments that concentrated the highest number of murders of women at the hands of their partners or ex-partners were La Paz (northwest) with 28 cases, Cochabamba (center) with 27 and Santa Cruz (east) with 21, while in Potos\u00ed (south ) there were 8. In Oruro (southwest) there were 6 registered femicides, in Chuquisaca (south) 5, in Tarija (south) 5, in Beni (northeast) 3 and in Pando (north) 1. (Source: Information Center and Women’s Development of the Women’s Coordinator, 2015).\r\n\r\nDue to the data on violence against women (femicides) reached in the country, it has led civil society organizations to demand that the national government and the governments and municipalities declare a national alert to promote actions, so that more resources are allocated and steps are taken to better tackle the fight against violence against women, especially on the issue of femicide.\r\n\r\nThe reality of the municipalities of Ravelo and Ocuri has as one of its characteristics discrimination against women within the family, community and other private and public institutions of society (such as schools, churches, health centers and the media ) for being a woman, for being indigenous and for being poor.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″
