Background Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the first week of January 2022, the Los Lirios community detected a series of problems in the community: Lack of awareness-raising programs regarding sanitation and hygiene, low awareness of the importance of sanitation and hygiene, insufficient investment in sanitation (latrines), little encouragement and promotion of local participation, low prioritization of the community\u2019s\u00a0 most pressing needs, the extra time that women spend caring for sick children, increased workloads for women, greater vulnerability to catching illnesses, the lack of developed capabilities for recognizing the rights of the local population, organizational capabilities and coordination with local authorities.<\/p>\n

General Goal:<\/strong> Empower the local population to fully exercise their rights to adequate sanitation, health care and participation for a dignified living standard of the women and men living in the Aguilares municipality.<\/p>\n

Specific Goal:<\/strong> Empower 250 people (161 women, 89 men)\u00a0 to exercise their rights to adequate sanitation, health care, with a gender and environmental sustainability approach, through the construction of 33 family dry compost latrines (FDCL) in the Los Lirios community, Aguilares municipality.<\/p>\n
