Background Information<\/h2>\n

The project arises from the demands of the producer families of\u00a0 the women and men of the 10 Pea\u00f1a subcentral\u00eda communities. These demands were presented at a workshop held in December 2021 where the main problem was identified: the high prevalence of malnutrition in indigenous peasant families (where children, pregnant women and the elderly are prioritized). This project fosters physical and intellectual growth and aims to ensure a more promising future for coming generations by successfully confront the food and environmental crisis caused by the pandemic and the effects of climate change .<\/p>\n

Goals<\/h2>\n

Overall Goal:<\/strong> Contribute to the reduction of poverty and social exclusion in the peasant population from the Pea\u00f1a communities of the Ocur\u00ed municipality, by empowering women to fully exercise their rights and achieving food security with a focus on gender equality and environmental sustainability when confronting\u00a0 a pandemic.<\/p>\n

Specific Goal:<\/strong> Enhance security with food sovereignty, local sustainable economic development and resilience to health, economic and environmental crisis in peasant families from the Pea\u00f1a communities. This project aims to strengthen agro-ecological production capability, livestock management, leadership, entrepreneurship and women and mixed gender sustainable production economic initiatives with the balanced participation of local public and private actors having an impact on public policies.<\/p>\n
