Background Information<\/h2>\n

This proposal arises from the demands of the producer families of the 10 Subcentralia de Pea\u00f1a communities. with the specific needs of men and women being clearly differentiated.\u00a0 It fosters the participation of the communal authorities, peasant social organizations, women’s organizations and TKPI personnel, based on a the results of a workshop carried out in December 2021, where the major problem was identified as following: “The high prevalence of malnutrition in indigenous peasant families [where the child population (boys and girls under 5 years of age), \u00a0women pregnant women and the elderly are prioritized] that fosters their physical and intellectual growth, thus guaranteeing a more promising future for new generations, by confronting\u00a0 the negative effects of \u00a0the food and environmental crisis caused by the pandemic and climate change\u201d.<\/p>\n

Goals<\/h2>\n

Overall goal:<\/strong> Reduce poverty and social exclusion among the peasant population in the Pea\u00f1a communities of the Ocuri municipality by enabling women to fully exercise their\u00a0 rights and providing food security with an emphasis on gender equality and environmental sustainability in times of pandemics.<\/p>\n

Specific goal:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enhance\u00a0 food sovereignty and local economic and sustainable development, enabling the peasant families from the Pea\u00f1a communities to successfully confront\u00a0 health, economic and environmental crises. This can be acheived by developing the capabilities for\u00a0 production, leadership, entrepreneurship and sustainable productive economic initiatives of women and groups of both sexes, with equal\u00a0 participation of public and private local activists and the aim of having a noticeable impact on\u00a0 public policies.<\/p>\n
