Justification

During the identification process of the proposal and based on the diagnosis conducted in January 2023 in the communities of Ckochas, Melena Alta, and Keluyo, the problem of gender-based violence, particularly directed towards women and children, was identified. Additionally, three underlying and specific subproblems were identified. Firstly, there are weaknesses in the tools, resources, and capacities of the Educational Units, which are considered essential spaces for education and combating gender-based violence. Secondly, the organizations of indigenous peasant women in the communities suffer from weaknesses in organizational capacities and resources, hindering their ability to participate, influence, and demand the rights of women and girls in their communities to live free from violence. Finally, the third problem detected is the limited level of interinstitutional coordination within the municipality of Ckochas, with deficiencies in the functioning of the Gender-Based Violence Fighting Network.

Objectives

General Objective:Empower Quechua peasant women and strengthen educational communities to reduce macho violence in the municipality of Ckochas, Potosí-Bolivia.

Specific Objective: Contribute to the exercise of the right to a life free of gender-based violence in three rural communities of the municipality of Ckochas, through the training of women leaders and active participation in equal opportunities of women’s organizations, educational communities, and public and private institutions, influencing local public policies.

Activities:

  • Workshops for women leaders to strengthen their capacities in Leadership, Rights, Conflict Resolution, Peace Culture, Surveillance, and Social Control.
  • Promotion of economic opportunities for women through technical workshops in tailoring, baking, artisanal crafts, production costs, and marketing strategies to enhance their economic autonomy.
  • Involvement of women leaders in mobilizations for the defense of the right to a life free from gender-based violence.
  • Development of training workshops for high school students on soft skills, a model program for violence prevention, drug and alcohol consumption, and masculinities.
  • Psychological care and guidance for students who are victims of violence and have behavioral issues.
  • Workshops to create participatory proposals for the prevention of gender-based violence, building roadmaps with public and private stakeholders.
