Justification

In the municipalities of Viacha and Laja, part of the metropolitan region of La Paz-Bolivia, the social and economic situation is complex and critical, where 80% of the population bases their economy on informality, allocating a high proportion of their income to the acquisition of food. In addition, the effects of Covid-19 have alarmingly increased cases of domestic violence, violation of rights, loss of democratic values, food insecurity and malnutrition.

Goals

General objective:Women and young people from peri-urban neighborhoods of Districts 7 of the municipality of Viacha and District 2 of the municipality of Laja, socially and economically empowered in times of Covid-19.

Specific goal: Promote initiatives of ecological production, transformation, consumption and commercialization of healthy and nutritious food, within a framework of a life free of violence, social participation and exercise of their rights.

Activities:

  • Training courses-workshops in agro-ecological production, nutrition, transformation, responsible consumption and marketing.
  • Technical advice for the implementation of 70 greenhouses with drip irrigation-harvesting rainwater.
  • Establishment “School of Periurban Ecological Agriculture”.
  • Design and implementation of a training program for 50 animating leaders in human rights.
  • Coordination meetings and planning of activities with authorities, SLIM.
  • Training in human rights, within the framework of current regulations on the Right to a life free of violence and the Youth Law.
