Justification

The project outlines a strategy to combat poverty, which will: Reverse the increasing poverty and vulnerability of 400 women linked to the project. Expand economic and social infrastructure through the implementation of economic initiatives, strengthening women’s organizational capacities, and promoting gender equity. Provide resources (financial, technical, and material) for the development of agroecological production systems, ensuring their implementation, development, and sustainability.

Objectives

General Objective: Promote an alternative model of life and sustainable local development with a gender approach, ensuring women in Aguilares and El Paisnal have access to their human rights.

Specific Objective: Enhance food security and sovereignty through an agroecological approach by empowering rural women in Aguilares and El Paisnal in economic, organizational, advocacy, and participatory capacities.

Activities:

  • • Conduct 100 training sessions for 300 women on gender, civic participation, human rights and gender identity, leadership, self-esteem, women’s autonomy, life-based economy, gender-based division of labor, and associative ideas to enhance women’s economic independence.
    • Develop a “Women’s Empowerment” diploma program with 25 women.
    • Organize 8 training sessions for 200 men on new masculinities.
    • Train and establish 15 community women’s committees with the participation of 400 women.
    • Establish partnerships with women’s associations.
    • Deliver 48 training sessions for 200 women on food security and sovereignty from a local-global perspective, organic grain and vegetable production, agroecological poultry farming, agroecological pig farming, biodigester management, and business management.
    • Set up 200 sustainable agroecological production systems aligned with environmental harmony, including 12 agroecological pig farms, 10 agroecological poultry farms, and 178 units for organic vegetable and grain production.
    • Host 6 fairs focused on commercialization and consumption.
    • Update two municipal policies (gender and agriculture) for northern San Salvador.
