Justification

This proposal aims to improve food security and sovereignty through the development of livelihood alternatives, resilience to climate change, and environmental preservation in impoverished communities of the Chacaya sub-centrality in the municipality of Pocoata. The initiative incorporates a focus on equal opportunities, rights, and environmental sustainability.

The project will ensure the availability of healthy food by introducing guinea pig meat and improving the breeding of black-faced sheep. These efforts will be combined with the sustainable management of natural resources, agroecological productive diversification (including crops, vegetables, and fruit trees), and the implementation of climate change adaptation measures.

Moreover, it seeks to promote leadership training among indigenous men and women from the Ayllus in Pocoata.

Objectives

General Objective: To contribute to reducing poverty and social exclusion among the rural population and indigenous Ayllus of the communities in the Chacaya district, municipality of Pocoata.

Specific Objective: To improve food security and sovereignty, along with environmental resilience, for sustainable local development, prioritizing the active involvement of women from the indigenous Ayllus of the Chacaya district.

Activities:

  • Implement processes for managing and protecting water recharge areas (reforestation) and water spring management.
  • Construct three water reservoirs with geomembranes and install eight water tanks.
  • Implement drip irrigation systems in horticultural productive plots.
  • Promote agroecological production of vegetables, fruit trees, and seed improvement.
  • Conduct training workshops and educational practices on guinea pig farming with inclusive participation of women.
  • Conduct training workshops and educational practices on breeding and reproduction of improved sheep (black-faced) with inclusive participation of women.
  • Implement educational nutritional practices based on the Nutrition Education Program.
  • Organize evaluation and follow-up meetings for the nutrition program and small animal farming.
  • Conduct personal development workshops for women in the Chacaya sub-centrality.
  • Implement a training program for leaders (men and women) on leadership, participation, social advocacy, social realities, and municipal legislation.
  • Provide support and follow-up for leaders to ensure their effective participation in municipal planning spaces and organizational events (congresses, assemblies, meetings, etc.).
