Promoting reproductive rights without violence
IPTKBackground Information
The proposal is the result of the demands of the local population which were gathered during the workshop held on December 15, 2021, with the participation of representatives from the Ravelo and Ocurí municipal governments, education and health managers, women’s reproductive associations, leaders from women’s and men’s peasant social organizations, Municipal Integral Legal Systems SLIM-Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents DNA, students from the Educational Units and TKPI staff.
The following needs were identified: -Training in Personal Development, Self-esteem and Leadership. -Development of capabilities for defending sexual and reproductive health rights and an education free of violence with a focus on gender. -National regulations and public policies are established for the exercise of the right to sexual and reproductive health and an education free of violence. -Law 348 is passed for violence prevention. -Surveillance and social control are set up to ensure compliance with reproductive rights.

Goals
Overall goal: Contribute to the formation of peaceful, inclusive and sustainable societies providing health services and sexual education with a focus on gender to prevent teenage pregnancies in the Ravelo and Ocurí municipalities.
Specific goal: Ensure the exercise of sexual and reproductive rights and the right to an education free of violence in the Ravelo and Ocuri municipalities by means of political and social empowerment of adolescents and young people and the involvement of public and private local activists in order have an impact on public policies.

Activities:
- Training workshops for adolescents and young student promoters on their right to sexual and reproductive health and an education free of violence with a focus on gender.
- Preparation of a communication strategy.
- Student contests for digital productions on the right to sexual and reproductive health and an education free of violence.
- Formation and organizational development of adolescent and youth networks for the exercise of their sexual and reproductive rights and an education free of violence.
• Follow-up visits and social control of the student networks of adolescents and young people when they access sexual and reproductive health services and are involved in the efforts to prevent school violence.
