Strengthening agri-food systems for empowering women and youth in their agroecological production capacities and promoting healthy eating in Viacha.
PRODIASURJustification
In the intervention area, the identified problem is significantly low technical, social, and economic capacities to address food insecurity and lack of awareness about rights for active citizenship in a post-pandemic context that has affected their main livelihoods. This problem is attributed to various factors, including limited economic opportunities, restricted economic access to healthy and nutritious food, lack of knowledge about the rights of women and youth, undervaluation of women’s contributions to the family economy, and limited opportunities for young individuals to access alternative economies, practical training spaces, and education. The proposal arises from a needs assessment conducted with women, youth, neighborhood boards, and municipal authorities to expand upon the previous project completed in November 2022.
